Mini Map

The Mini Map is an iPad navigation tool that gives you a bird's eye view of your Mac screen. iPhone uses touch gestures to navigate instead.

Updated today

The Mini Map is a navigation tool that gives you a full overview of your Mac screen, so you can zoom in and focus on what you need to. It's great for creative work like a project in Photoshop, where you need to get up close on the details or if you need to read smaller text that's hard to see.

🗺️ How to Use the Mini Map

  1. Tap the Mini Map button in the toolbar at the top of the app (middle button)

  2. A small overview of your entire Mac screen will appear in a box in the right bottom of the screen, showing your current position on the screen

  3. Use the zoom slider at the bottom to zoom in (slide right) or zoom out (slide left)

  4. Press and drag the small white box within the Mini Map box to a different area on the screen

  5. Tap the white X button on the Mini Map to close the Mini Map when you are done

Good to Know

  • Your view will stay zoomed in after you close the Mini Map. To adjust your position or zoom level, open the Mini Map again.

  • The Mini Map is not available in Fullscreen Mode. You'll need to turn off Fullscreen Mode to access it.

  • Finger Zoom and Pan will work as normal on your iPad in creative apps, such as Photoshop, even when using Mini Map to zoom in to the screen.

🗺️ Why isn't Mini Map available on the iPhone app?

The iPhone app uses touch gestures to navigate instead of the Mini Map. On a smaller screen, gestures are a better fit than a separate navigation tool. The iPad app uses Mini Map since it has more screen space to work with.

Here's how it works on iPhone:

  • Pinch and pan to move around the screen

  • Two fingers to scroll

  • Tap and hold to drag or move a window

Tap the button in the toolbar if you need a reminder of the gestures.
