Computer-to-Mac - How do I connect with an Ethernet cable?

An in-depth guide on connecting your devices via Ethernet in Luna Display.

Updated over 2 months ago

📋 What you'll need

  • An Ethernet cable (Cat6 or better)

  • Available Ethernet port on each device

⚠️ Important: The Luna Display hardware will still need to be plugged into your primary computer when using a cable to connect!

What if one of my computers only has USB-C ports?

You can use a USB-C to Ethernet adapter. Here's one that we've tested: Amazon Basics Aluminum USB-C to RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter

💡 Note: We have found that Ethernet is the best wired connection type for PC-to-Mac mode. Thunderbolt connections can be inconsistent depending on what kind of Windows computer you're using.

Can I use an Ethernet switch or hub with my devices?

⚠️ Yes, but the results of using a switch can vary, so we cannot guarantee that you will get the same performance that you would without a switch or hub. The more devices you have connected to a switch or hub, regardless of quality, the more likely your connection is to degrade.
