📋 What you need to know
After pairing your Bookcase NFC with the Bookcase app, you can create advanced automations using Apple's Shortcuts app to automatically open apps or websites when your iPhone is placed in Bookcase.
🔗 Before you begin
Make sure you've completed the Bookcase NFC pairing with your iPhone setup first.
Automation Options
You can create two types of automations using the Shortcuts app.
Option 1: Automatically Open an App
📱 To open a specific app when Bookcase is detected:
🎯 Select automation type
On the "When 'Bookcase' is detected" screen
Choose Open App under the Get Started section
📲 Choose your app
Tap the blue App text next to Open
Select your desired reading app from the list
Tap Done in the top right
✅ Result: Your chosen app will automatically launch when your phone is placed in Bookcase!
Option 2: Automatically Open a Website
🌐 To open a specific website when Bookcase is detected:
⚡ Create new automation
On the "When 'Bookcase' is detected" screen
Select New Blank Automation under the Get Started section
🔍 Access web options
Tap the grey search bar at the bottom of the screen
Select Web under Categories
🌍 Configure browser action
Tap Open URLs under your preferred browser (Safari shown in example)
🔗 Set your website
Tap the blue URL text
Type or paste your preferred website URL
Tap Done
✅ Result: Your chosen website will automatically open when your phone is placed in Bookcase!
💡 Pro tip: These automations work alongside the basic shortcuts in the Bookcase app, giving you more advanced customization options through Apple's native Shortcuts app.
