📏 What are Pressure Curves?

Pressure curves adjust how your Apple Pencil responds to different pressure levels. Control stroke thickness and opacity based on how hard you press.

💡 Key options:

  • Soft curves: Light pressure creates full strokes quickly

  • Hard curves: Need more pressure for full opacity/thickness

  • Custom curves: Draw your own pressure response

  • Smoothing: Adds stability to reduce jittery strokes

Pressure Curve Types

🪶 Soft Pressure: Soft pressure curves make strokes respond quickly to light pressure. You don't need to press hard to get full stroke thickness or opacity.

🪨 Hard Pressure: Hard pressure curves respond more slowly. You'll need to press down harder to reach full opacity or stroke width.

Creating a Custom Pressure Curve

✏️ Custom Curve Setup

Tap Custom in the sidebar to adjust your own pressure curve:

  1. Move the red line to change how the curve reacts

  2. Add control points: Tap anywhere on the red line to add a white point

  3. Adjust points: Drag white points with your finger or Apple Pencil

  4. Remove points: Tap on a white point again to delete it

💡 Testing Your Curve

Draw in your app while the sidebar is open to see real-time pressure feedback and test your adjustments.

Pressure Smoothing

🎯 What is Smoothing?

Pressure smoothing helps soften and steady your brush strokes. It adds a little "drag" to give the feel of drawing on paper, making strokes less jittery.

⚙️ Smoothing Options

  • Default: Balanced experience that works well across most desktop apps

  • Custom: Adjust smoothing amount to your preference

    • Increase: More stability, steadier lines

    • Decrease: Rawer, more responsive feel
