What is the Studio Sidebar?

A brief overview of each button and feature of the Astropad Studio Sidebar

📋 The Basics

The Sidebar is your control center for customizing Astropad Studio. It provides access to settings, shortcuts, and tools to streamline your workflow. You can position it on either side of your iPad screen and toggle visibility using the red Astro ring button.


📍 Main Sidebar Menu

When you first reveal Astropad Studio’s sidebar, it will open the Main Menu sidebar.

  1. Connection type and quality

  2. Reposition your sidebar to the left or right of your iPad's display

  3. Astropad Studio account currently logged into the app

  4. Creative program or app that is actively in use

  5. Workspace - Edit your Sidebar Shortcuts here

  6. Pencil & Stroke - Customize the preview line and pressure curve

  7. Magic Gestures - Customize Magic Gestures

  8. General Settings - Adjust settings for display brightness, retina, and color.

  9. Move & Zoom - Adjust your screen selection view.

  10. Connection - View connection quality and select a preferred wireless connection mode

  11. Learn & Support - Links to basic guides and support materials.

🛠️ Shortcuts Sidebar

Tap Workspace to reveal shortcuts for your program in use. The most common shortcuts are already available by default, but you can add or edit the shortcuts to suit your workflow.

  1. The current sidebar shortcuts for your active program

  2. Tap Edit Workspace to edit the Shortcuts and Finger Tap Magic Gestures for the current program.

  3. Use Move & Zoom mode to adjust your screen selection view, and designate the display Astropad Studio interacts with if using a multi-display setup.

  4. Enable an on-screen Keyboard for any typing needs.

  5. Toggle Quick Keys for on-screen modifier keys, including command, option/alt, control, and shift.


🔄 Launch and Switch Programs

In the Shortcuts portion of the sidebar, you can switch between, or launch, any app in your Mac dock or Windows taskbar by tapping the icon for the app that is currently in use.

💡 To best utilize this feature, we recommend placing your most used programs in your Mac’s Dock or Windows taskbar!
