Once Workbench is set up on your Mac and iPad, connecting remotely is quick and simple.
🔌 Starting a Session
Sign in to your Workbench account on your Mac
Be sure to keep your Mac awake
Open Workbench on your iPad and sign in to the same Astropad account you used on your Mac
Your Mac will appear as a device you can connect to, showing its name, status, and location
As long as your Mac shows as Online, tap Connect
Your Mac will play a connection chime if sounds are enabled
The macOS menu bar will show a screen sharing indicator so you always know when a session is active
Your Mac's display will appear on your iPad and you are ready to go!
On the Mac side, you will see a window showing your connected devices with a note that says Sharing to [device name] and a red Stop Sharing button to end the session at any time.
🔴 Ending a Session
You can end your session from either device at any time.
From your iPad or iPhone
Swipe up and force close the Workbench app
Your Mac will play a disconnection chime, the screen sharing indicator will disappear from the menu bar, and your Mac's resolution will revert back to normal
From your Mac
Click the red Stop Sharing button in the Workbench window
Or click the screen sharing indicator in the macOS menu bar and select Stop Sharing
💡 Good to Know
Your Mac must show as Online in the device list in order to connect. If it shows as offline, check that Workbench is open and running on your Mac and that your Mac is not asleep.
You can start a new session anytime by tapping Connect in the device list on the iPad/iPhone side
