Quick Answer
Resolution changes during a Workbench session are normal and expected
Your Mac adjusts its resolution to match your iPad or iPhone screen
Everything will return to normal automatically when you end the session
No manual adjustments needed
🖥️ Why Does My Resolution Change?
When Workbench connects, your Mac adjusts its display resolution to match the screen size and aspect ratio of your iPad or iPhone. This is how Workbench is able to show your full Mac desktop on a smaller screen.
Because of this, you may notice:
Your Mac's screen looks zoomed in or lower resolution than usual
App windows appear larger or rearranged
The resolution in macOS Display Settings shows a different value than normal
✅ This is expected behavior. Your Mac's resolution will restore automatically the moment you disconnect.
🔄 Will My Resolution Go Back to Normal?
Yes. When you end the Workbench session, macOS automatically restores your Mac's original resolution. You do not need to change anything manually in Display Settings.
⚠️ If your resolution does not restore after disconnecting: Go to System Settings > Displays and select your preferred resolution manually. This is uncommon but has potential to occasionally happen.
📺 The Video Looks Blurry or Low Quality
If the picture looks blurry rather than just zoomed, this is usually a network issue rather than a resolution change.
Try the following:
Make sure both your Mac and your iPad or iPhone have a strong, stable internet connection
Move closer to your router or switch to a wired Ethernet connection on your Mac if possible
⚠️ Intel Mac users: Intel Macs are supported but may experience reduced video quality compared to Apple Silicon. If you're on an Intel Mac and seeing consistent quality issues, this is a known limitation.
