Updated this week

Quick answer:

  • Create spaces: Use Mission Control to add multiple desktop spaces

  • All desktops: Right-click app in Dock > Options > All Desktops

  • Specific desktop: Go to desired space, right-click app > Options > This Desktop

  • Remove assignment: Right-click app > Options > None

🍎 Set Up Multiple Desktop Spaces on Mac

When using Luna Display, some apps may open on the wrong screen. You can manage where apps open by setting up Multiple Desktop Spaces on your Mac.

⚠️ Note: Since macOS Ventura 13.3.1, this feature may no longer work as expected. Results may vary.

Create Desktop Spaces (Optional)

  • With Luna running, open the Apple Menu in the top left and select System Preferences

  • Open Mission Control, or swipe up with 4 fingers on your trackpad

  • At the top of your screen, click the + button in the upper right to add more desktops

  • To switch between spaces, swipe up with 4 fingers or open Mission Control and choose the desktop you want to use

Assign Apps to Specific Desktop Spaces

You can set apps to open on all desktops, one desktop, or no desktop.

Open an App on All Desktop Spaces

  • Find the app in your Dock and right-click the app

  • Go to Options and select All Desktops

  • The app will now open on every desktop space

Open an App on One Desktop Space

  • Go to the desktop where you want the app to open using Mission Control

  • Find the app in the Dock and right-click the app

  • Go to Options and select This Desktop

  • The app will now open only in that space

Prevent an App from Opening on a Desktop

  • Find the app in the Dock that you want to stop from opening on a specific desktop

  • Right-click the app and go to Options

  • Select None - the app will no longer be tied to a specific desktop space

Will this work on all macOS versions?

❌ Not reliably. Since macOS Ventura 13.3.1, this feature may not work as expected.

Alternative: Try manually dragging app windows between spaces or using Luna Display's built-in display management.

Results vary: Desktop space assignment behavior depends on your specific macOS version and system configuration.
