Quick Answer
📋 Setup on iPad and iPhone is straightforward.
In most cases, all you need to do is install the app and sign in. Your Mac will appear as a device they can connect to when Workbench is running and your Mac is logged into the same Workbench account.
iPad Setup
Step 1: Install
Step 2: Sign In
Open the app and sign in with your Workbench account. If you don't have one yet, you can create one from this screen.
You can sign in with email, Apple, or Google — use the same method you chose when originally creating your account.
⚠️ Note for "Hide My Email": If you choose to hide your email when signing in with Apple, Apple will provide a @privaterelay.appleid.com email address to our system. This is how your account will appear if you ever need support, and we won't be able to see your original Apple email.
Step 3: Connect
After signing in, a welcome screen will give you a brief overview of Workbench.
If Workbench is already running on your Mac and logged into the same Workbench account, your Mac will appear as an available device to connect to.
⚠️ Important: Upon selecting your Mac to Connect, be sure to tap "Allow" on the iPadOS prompt requesting to find devices on Local Networks.
No Devices Found?
💡 If no Mac appears, you'll see basic instructions on how to get your Mac set up.
iPhone Setup
Step 1: Install
Step 2: Get Started
Open the app. A welcome screen will walk you through the basics of Workbench. Tap "Get Started" to continue.
Step 3: Sign In
Tap Sign In and log in with your existing Workbench account, or create a new one.
The sign-in process is identical to iPad, with the same email, Apple, and Google options available.
⚠️ Note for "Hide My Email": If you choose to hide your email when signing in with Apple, Apple will provide a @privaterelay.appleid.com email address to our system. This is how your account will appear if you ever need support, and we won't be able to see your original Apple email.
Step 4: Connect
After signing in, you'll see a discovery screen listing any available Macs, or instructions for setting up a Mac to connect to.
💡 If no Mac appears, see How do I set up Workbench on Mac? for a full walkthrough.
