🔍 Check These Steps First

Is Workbench open and running on your Mac?

Workbench needs to be active on the Mac side to appear in the device list on the iPad/iPhone. If the Mac apps is closed, your Mac won't show in the list.

Is your Mac awake?

Workbench can't connect to a sleeping Mac, so make sure Prevent Sleep is enabled in Remote Access Settings or wake your Mac manually before using Workbench.

Are both devices signed into the same Astropad Account?

Your Mac and iPad/iPhone need to be signed into the same account. Double check that you are not signed into different accounts on either device.

Do both devices have internet access?

Workbench requires that both devices have internet access. Check your connection on both your Mac and iPad/iPhone, reboot devices, and make sure you're on the most stable network.

Is Remote Access enabled on your Mac?

Open Workbench on your Mac, click the ... next to your computer name and select Remote Access Settings. Make sure Enable Remote Access is turned on.

Did you complete all required permissions during setup?

Workbench needs Accessibility, Screen Recording, and Local Network permissions to connect. If any of these were skipped or removed, your Mac may not show in the list.

🔧 Still Not Showing Up?

If you checked everything above and your Mac is still not appearing on the iPad/iPhone's device list, try the following steps:

  • Quit and reopen Workbench on both devices

  • Reboot both devices fully

  • Check that both devices are listed on a stable network

  • Disable any VPNs (as a test) and allow Workbench through the Firewall

  • If permissions were removed at any point, macOS should reprompt you when Workbench tries to use them. If the show up, accept each permission and try again
