How secure is my Luna Display connection?

Learn about Luna Display's security features and encryption methods.

Updated over 2 months ago

Quick answer: Luna Display automatically protects your connection with strong encryption, adapting to how you set up your devices.

How Your Connection is Protected

Standard Setup (WiFi, Ethernet, Thunderbolt, USB)

When you connect normally through WiFi, Ethernet, Thunderbolt, or USB, Luna Display automatically uses bank-level encryption to protect everything you do. Your connection is fully secured from start to finish.

Direct Device Connection (Peer-to-Peer Mode)

When you enable Peer-to-Peer mode, Luna Display creates a direct connection between your devices using Apple's built-in technology. This mode works great for home networks where you trust all connected devices.

Good to know: This direct connection doesn't add extra encryption layers since it's designed for trusted home networks. Your data still stays completely private within your network and never goes online.

For Maximum Security

If you work with sensitive information or have strict security requirements:

  1. Turn off Peer-to-Peer mode in Luna's settings

  2. Stick with standard connections (WiFi or Ethernet) for the strongest encryption

What Protection You Get

Your Network Traffic

  • Security Level: Bank-grade encryption (QUIC with TLS 1.3)

  • What it protects: Everything you see and do on your extended display

  • When it's active: Automatically whenever you use standard network connections

Device Setup & Login

  • Protection: Secure pairing process with encrypted keys

  • What it protects: Your device connection and login information
