Rock Daily Planner has two separate types of sync that work differently:
Calendar sync pulls events from your iPad's Calendar app into the Rock Daily Planner timeline. It works per device and does not sync notes or planner content between iPads.
iCloud sync saves your Rock Daily Planner notes and data to iCloud so it can be restored or accessed on another device. This feature has had known issues and may not work as expected on all setups until a fix is made.
Understanding which type of sync you need will help you figure out what to check first.
📅 Calendar Sync Issues
My calendar events are not showing up in Rock Daily Planner
Rock Daily Planner pulls events from the calendar accounts connected to your iPad. It does not sync directly with iCloud, Google Calendar, or iCalendar on its own. Those services need to be set up in your iPad's native Calendar app first.
Step 1: Check that your calendar accounts are connected to your iPad
Open the Settings app on your iPad
Tap Calendar, then tap Accounts
Confirm the calendar account you want to use (iCloud, Google, Exchange, etc.) is listed and enabled
If it is not listed, tap Add Account and sign in
Step 2: Check that Rock Daily Planner has calendar permission
Open the Settings app on your iPad
Tap Privacy and Security, then tap Calendars
Find Rock Daily Planner in the list and make sure it is set to Full Access
If it is set to None or limited, tap it and change it to Full Access
Step 3: Force a sync in the Calendar app
Open the native Calendar app on your iPad
Pull down to refresh
Return to Rock Daily Planner and check if the events now appear
💡 If your events show in your iPad's native Calendar app but not in Rock Daily Planner, try closing and reopening Rock Daily Planner to prompt a refresh.
My iCalendar is not syncing
iCalendar is Apple's calendar format and syncs through iCloud. If iCalendar events are not showing in Rock Daily Planner, check the following:
Go to Settings > Your Name > iCloud
Make sure Calendars is toggled on
Go to Settings > Calendar > Accounts and confirm iCloud is listed and active
Open the native Calendar app and confirm your iCloud events appear there
If they do appear in the native Calendar app but not in Rock Daily Planner, check that Rock Daily Planner has Full Access under Settings > Privacy and Security > Calendars
⚠️ Rock Daily Planner reads from your iPad's native Calendar app. If a calendar is not showing up in the native app, it will not show in Rock Daily Planner either. The native Calendar app is the starting point for any sync troubleshooting.
My Google Calendar is not syncing
Google Calendar events will appear in Rock Daily Planner only if your Google account is connected to your iPad's Calendar app.
Go to Settings > Calendar > Accounts
Look for your Google account in the list
If it is there, make sure Calendars is toggled on for that account
If it is not there, tap Add Account > Google and sign in
Confirm Google events appear in your native Calendar app, then reopen Rock Daily Planner
📱 Using Rock Daily Planner on Multiple iPads
Calendar sync does not automatically share events between two iPads. Each iPad pulls events from its own connected calendar accounts. As long as both iPads are signed into the same account through the native Calendar app, events should appear on both devices.
To confirm both iPads are set up the same way:
On each iPad, go to Settings > Calendar > Accounts and confirm the same accounts are connected
On each iPad, go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Calendars and confirm Rock Daily Planner has Full Access
Open the native Calendar app on each iPad and confirm events appear there first
⚠️ Important: Rock Daily Planner syncs calendar events, not your notes or planner content. If you are looking to access your handwritten notes or planner pages across two iPads, see the section below.
☁️ Syncing Rock Daily Planner Notes and Data Between iPads
Rock Daily Planner stores your notes and planner pages locally on your device and uses iCloud to back them up. This is separate from calendar sync.
To check whether iCloud backup is enabled for Rock Daily Planner:
Go to Settings > Your Name > iCloud > iCloud Drive
Scroll to find Rock Daily Planner and make sure the toggle is turned on
Do this on both iPads
Even with iCloud Drive enabled, there can be a delay before data uploads or syncs across devices. Notes sync is not instant and may take some time, especially after a reinstall.
❗ Before uninstalling Rock Daily Planner: iCloud backup for Rock Daily Planner stores a small amount of data and notes sync between devices may not be fully consistent across all setups. If you uninstall the app before your data has uploaded to iCloud, you may not be able to recover it. We recommend checking that iCloud Drive shows Rock Daily Planner data before reinstalling.
